HBO’s acclaimed series The White Lotus is set for a fourth season, with new developments emerging in early 2026. While an official release date remains unconfirmed, production details and potential cast members are coming into focus.
When to Expect Season 4
Given the production timeline of previous seasons—a little over a year between seasons one and two, then two years between seasons two and three—a late 2026 or early 2027 premiere is probable. HBO executives are eager to capitalize on the show’s success, with creator Mike White already facing pressure to begin scouting locations in April.
France as the New Setting
Season four will break from the series’ tradition of filming at Four Seasons hotels, instead setting its scenes in France. The Deadline reports that filming will take place at the Airelles Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez. This shift marks a departure from the series’ established pattern, which previously included locations in Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand.
The Confirmed Cast So Far
As of January 2026, several actors have been confirmed for the upcoming season. The Hollywood Reporter announced Alexander Ludwig, AJ Michalka, Steve Coogan, and Caleb Jonte Edwards as cast members. More recently, Chris Messina, Helena Bonham Carter, and Marissa Long have also signed on, per Deadline. The addition of such established talent suggests that season four will continue the show’s trend of attracting high-profile performers.
The Possibility of an All-Star Season
The show has proven that characters can reappear across seasons, as seen with Tanya and Greg in both seasons one and two. This opens the door for speculation about an all-star season featuring beloved characters from previous installments.
“They could get all the douche guys in one hotel together,” Patrick Schwarzenegger joked to Mike White in The Hollywood Reporter, referencing the series’ knack for bringing together unlikeable, yet captivating, personalities.
While the idea is under discussion, such a crossover is unlikely to be season four’s focus. Instead, it may appear further down the line.
A Musical Change
A notable shift will also occur behind the scenes with the departure of Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, the show’s longtime composer. Tensions escalated after White removed the signature “ooh-loo-loo-loo” theme from the opening credits, leading to a feud that culminated in Tapia de Veer uploading the full, uncut theme to YouTube. This change signals a fresh musical direction for the series.
Season four of The White Lotus promises both continuity and departure, blending familiar elements with new settings, cast members, and creative choices. The series’ ability to adapt while retaining its dark humor and social commentary will ultimately determine its continued success.
