Actor Samara Weaving, known for her intense roles in films like Ready or Not, balances physically demanding work with rigorous self-care. As she prepares for motherhood, Weaving shares insights into her recovery methods after filming action-packed scenes and how she’s adapting her wellness routine during pregnancy.

On-Set Recovery: Epsom Salts and Spa Days

Weaving admits that action-heavy roles take a toll on her body. To counter this, she relies on simple yet effective strategies: long Epsom salt baths (up to an hour) and immediate post-shoot pampering.

“Any movie that requires action—and Ready or Not was a lot—I would have Epsom baths for an hour. I think that’s what carried me through.”

The actor also enjoys restorative treatments like manicures and pedicures after roles that require a deliberately unkempt appearance. For Ready or Not, her character had to sport intentionally awful nails, making the post-shoot spa visit a particularly satisfying reward.

Pregnancy Wellness: Prioritizing Massage

Now pregnant with her first child, Weaving is adjusting her wellness routine to accommodate the physical demands of pregnancy. Weekly massages are now essential, given the constant aches and pains that come with carrying a baby.

“I get a massage every week, especially at the moment, because I’ve got this big old baby in me, and everything hurts all the time… If I wasn’t pregnant, not that much, but it’s as much as I can.”

The actor emphasizes that while she usually doesn’t seek out frequent massages, pregnancy makes them non-negotiable for her physical well-being.

Balancing Action and Self-Care

Weaving’s approach highlights a common challenge for performers in physically intense roles: the need to prioritize recovery as much as the performance itself. Her methods—from Epsom salts to spa treatments to weekly massages—demonstrate a commitment to sustaining her body through demanding projects and now, through pregnancy.

The actor’s willingness to openly discuss her wellness routines underscores the importance of self-care, especially for those whose professions require physical endurance.
