Shania Twain got the invite.
Taylor Swift, arguably one of her biggest fans and most devoted proteges, extended a personal hand for the Madison Square Garden wedding. It was going to be a party of the century, packed with A-list heavy hitters on July 3.
But Shania didn’t show.
And the reason?
One specific name.
Harry Styles.
In a candid moment with etalk, Twain laid out the scheduling conflict that kept her stateside rather than in New York. She had already locked in dates to open for Styles’ “Together, Together” residency at Wembley Stadium in London.
“I couldn’t go because I was committed to Harry’s shows,” Twain explained.
The irony is almost palpable. Swift and Styles dated briefly, awkwardly, publicly, between 2012 and 2013 before calling it quits. Twain spent those final weeks in the capital city with her ex-fiancé’s bandmate, watching from the sidelines as the wedding she desperately wanted to attend happened half a world away.
She called it “kind of funny” that it worked out that way.
But also frustrating? Probably.
“I would have done anything,” Twain insisted, emphasizing that this wasn’t about drama or choosing sides. It wasn’t a statement against Harry, nor a snub toward Taylor. “It would have been really lovely… but I was with Harry.”
Commitment contracts don’t care about romance histories. They just care about the calendar.
Ryan Seacrest had similar luck. Or misfortune, depending on your view of Disney corporate obligations.
Seacrest RSVP’d yes.
Then Disney said no.
He was tasked with hosting a massive Fourth of July special—fitting for a holiday weekend that spills over into Independence Day week—and had to bow out of the ceremony. He admitted being torn, really torn.
“Trust me, I went through it,” he told Us Weekly, referencing the agonizing back-and-forth of trying to make time that didn’t exist.
The afternoon ceremony meant he physically couldn’t be in London and on the set for the July 3th production.
So who was there?
Everyone else who mattered.
Selena Gomez walked the aisle alongside husband Benny Blanco. Lena Dunham was in the crowd. Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper held hands somewhere in the front. Ed Sheeran, Karlie Kluss, Ellie Goulding—they all showed. Even Kelsea Ballerini made the trip.
And for the vows?
Adam Sandler.
Yes. The comedian stood at the altar and married the year’s most high-profile couple. It felt random, yet perfectly right for the chaotic energy of Swift and Kelce.
Seacrest and Twain missed it.
The rest of the roster did not.
Did Twain regret staying in London?
She won’t say she chose Harry over Taylor, but she did choose her contract over the celebration. Some boundaries, professional or personal, are just too thick to cross.
